The title is getting closer!

The key moments

Paris Saint-Germain are 20 points clear at the top of the table again after coming through a test in south-west France to move closer to an eighth French crown, one they could pick up next weekend.

It was a step they made thanks to Kylian Mbappé. He was the one who teed up Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting for an early opportunity the Cameroon international sent over the crossbar (17'). Marquinhos had a goal ruled out for offside (35') before Alphonse Areola brilliantly kept out Christopher Jullien's header (38').

It was the same story after the restart. Areola stopped both Yaya Sanogo and Jimmy Durmaz (52') before Mbappé took the game by the scruff of the neck. He sent a volley wide (59'), and narrowly failed to convert a Colin Dagba cross (66') before he got it right at the third time of asking: bringing down a Thilo Kehrer cross and firing low into the net in a fluid movement (0-1, 74')

A Parisian in the match: Alphonse Areola

Two reflexes saves that he didn't even use his gloves for won the game for his side. His forearm kept out Jullien and then he did the same to stop Sanogo in the second half. It made all the difference.

The word: Late

For the first time this season, we had to wait more than 73 minutes to see Paris Saint-Germain find the net. Mbappé made it happen shortly after though with his 27th goal in 24 league games, scoring in his seventh successive league match.

Up next

There is a slight change of tack for the Rouge-et-Bleu when they take on Nantes in the Coupe de France semi-final on Wednesday. It is the Parisians' 19th last-four appearance in the competition, and they will need to become the first team in the competition to score against Les Canaris this season if they are to go through.
