The title in 5 chapters

Paris Saint-Germain retained the title of Champions of France after a successful 2019-2020 campaign, despite the early termination of the season due to COVID-19. A season that Les Parisiens dominated by far. Here's the proof in five chapters.

With 75 goals, Paris Saint-Germain is the team that scored most goals in the French league after 27 matches. Kylian Mbappé is the perfect example of this attacking domination. The French international ended the season as the top scorer in Ligue 1, with 18 goals. Angel Di Maria took home the title of most assists after he created 14 goals during the season.

Defensively, Paris also impressed. Thomas Tuchel's side kept 15 clean sheets in Ligue 1 this campaign, more than any other side. Stats the impress and demonstrate Les Parisiens' total control, both in attack and defence.

A look back at five matches from this action-packed season.

Paris Saint-Germain - Strasbourg: 1-0 (Week 5) - A goal from another planet
In Week 5 of Ligue 1, Les Parisiens came up against a Strasbourg who had qualified for Europe the previous season. In a highly competitive encounter, Thomas Tuchel's team struggled to find the breakthrough. It was only in the 92nd minute, just a few seconds before the final whistle, that Neymar Jr turned the game in Paris Saint-Germain's favour with an exceptional acrobatic effort.

Paris Saint-Germain - Olympique de Marseille: 4-0 (Week 11) - 'The performance'
Unbeaten in Le Classique since 2011, Paris Saint-Germain put in a real performance against Olympique de Marseille. A impressive team effort across the pitch. In the first half, Les Parisiens scored four goals thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappé and another from Mauro Icardi. Paris held strong during the second half and left their opponent with absolutely no chance of getting back into the game.

Montpellier - Paris Saint-Germain: 1-3 (Week 17) - An incredible trio
A match at the Stade de la Mosson is never easy, particularly for Paris Saint-Germain. In an incredible atmosphere and against a Montpellier side that was full of motivation, Thomas Tuchel's side trailed 1-0 at the break. They then had to wait until the final quarter of an hour to see the attacking trio of Neymar Jr, Mbappé and Icardi make the difference. With a magnificent free-kick, the Paris number 10 started the comeback, before allowing his two attacking colleagues to complete the job.

Lille - Paris Saint-Germain: 0-2 (Week 21) - The Neymar Show & a hommage to Kobe Bryant
Against one of the toughest sides in Ligue 1 this season, Les Parisiens needed to show what they were about. And they didn't let us down, once again. And it was Neymar Jr that broke the deadlock once more, scoring two goals, including a sublime free-kick. The Brazilian international made the most of the second goal to pay a powerful tribute to basketball player Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter accident.

Paris Saint-Germain - Olympique Lyonnais: 4-2 (Week 24) - A vital victory
As league leaders, Paris Saint-Germain came up against one of their main competitors, Olympique Lyonnais in Week 24 of the season. Paris were able to manage their opponent's strong and weak periods of the game and secured a 4-2 victory, in what was a spectacular match. Paris Saint-Germain therefore maintained their lead over Marseille in second, while also extending the club's supremacy over the top clubs in the league. This, just four matches before the unexpected end to the season.
