The Rouge et Bleu squad do the tourist thing!

From the Dover Street Market to the French embassy, via Chinatown, the Paris Saint-Germain players had a busy day seeing the sights in Singapore.

The day started with the unveiling of the capital club’s 2018-19 away kit at the Dover Street Market at 10am, and it was a big hit with the local fashion aficionados and social media influencers. The journalists also got to pull on the new Paris Saint-Germain kit for a match that included Marco Verratti and Maxwell on one side, and Christopher Nkunku and Zoumana Camara the other. “It was an incredible experience,” explained Jonah Foong, journalist for the New Paper. “We really see just how good the players are when you see them up close like this. We watch them on television, but it’s not the same.”

At the same time, four players from the capital club visited the most famous tourist spot in Singapore. After a first stop in Chinatown to visit a temple, Layvin Kurzawa, Giovani Lo Celso, Adrien Rabiot and Timothy Weah headed to the Maxwell Food Centre to discover the local cuisine. Then the four jumped into a couple of Trishaws to go to a little football pitch where a few young Singaporeans were on hand for an improvised kick-about.

The group then received a lesson in Singlish while on a boat cruise before meeting the fans at Clarke Quay with a Q & A followed by an autograph session. “Everything went really well,” Adrien Rabiot told PSG TV. “We were a small group of four and we had the chance to visit several spots. It is really, very hot, but it was really nice! Everyone was very happy to see us and we received a great welcome.”

Then it was time for work as the four players joined up with the rest of the squad at the Geylang Field for training. Late in the afternoon, the players warmed up before a series of strength and conditioning exercises before technical drills with and without the ball.

The next training session will be at 20:00 local time on Friday at the Singapore National Stadium, setting for Saturday’s International Champions Cup 2018 match against Arsenal. And finally, the day ended with the inauguration of the new Paris Saint-Germain office in Asia with a reception at the French embassy. Opened a few months ago, the Rouge et Bleu office has been representing the capital club in Asia, charged with developing Paris Saint-Germain’s image in the region.
