The perfect start!

The Highlights:
Paris Saint-Germain's 46th consecutive Ligue 1 season (a French record) started in style. Spectacular football, stars on the scoresheet, a sold out Parc: after the holidays, it was back to work with a smile! Paris burst out of the blocks. Edinson Cavani fizzed a cross across the face of goal (6') while Kylian Mbappé tested Bernardoni (16'). In the end, it was a helping hand from the VAR that saw referee Mr. Turpin give Paris a penalty (23'). Put away by Cavani with power and precision (1-0, 24')!

Paris boasted nearly 80% possession and Mbappé was causing all sorts of problems down the left flank. A switch of play for Pablo Sarabia saw Bernadoni produce a miraculous save (33'). From another Kylian assist, Cavani saw his effort flash agonisingly wide (42'). Just before the break, Ripart gave the Crocodiles their only chance of the first half (42'), but Paris held a deserved lead at the break. And it continued after the restart: Played in over the top by Marquinhos, Juan Bernat controlled and cut the ball back for Mbappé to blast home a second (2-0, 57')! The France international then picked out substutute Angel Di Maria to net goal No.3 just seven minutes after replacing Sarabia (3-0, 70')!

For the fifth year in a row, Paris Saint-Germain made a winning start to the Ligue 1 season.

A man in the match: Kylian Mbappé
By definition, Kylian Mbappé is a man in a hurry. Back in his home stadium, he showed it once again with an assist and a goal in the opening match of the campaign; his 63rd in 98 Ligue 1 for last season's top scorer (33 goals). In 2019, he has already scored 21 goals in Ligue 1: no player has done better in Europe's top 5 leagues. The star is back!

The word: Fortress
The message has been sent out from the start of the L1 season: the Parc des Princes: Do Not Enter! Unbeaten at home in Ligue 1 last season (17 wins, 2 draws), Paris Saint-Germain have extended their L1 undefeated run to 20 matches. And like a year ago on the opening day of the season versus Caen, Les Parisiens inflicted their favourite home score: 3-0!

Comng up:
Two weeks after victory in the Trophée des Champions (2-1), the capital club will take on Rennes, in their first away match of the L1 campaign. After Shenzhen, this match will take place in Roazhon Park next Sunday (21:00 CET), where Paris have won the last four games in a row.
