The Parisians keep the run going with a win in Bordeaux

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bordeaux in matchday 28 of Ligue 1 (0-1). Take a look at how it happened.

Carry on accumulating points and close the gap to the top of the table: those were Paris Saint-Germain's goals for the trip to Gironde. Without many players, Mauricio Pochettino had to once more change the starting eleven with Mauro Icardi returning alongside  Pablo Sarabia, Julian Draxler and Rafinha.

Despite the wholesale changes, Marquinhos' men adapted very well against a well organised Jean-Louis Gasset side set on fighting hard. They quickly realized that it would be difficult to find the gaps and get close to Benoît Costil's goal. But Costil was called upon to save the first attempt from Pablo Sarabia who hit a dangerous shot after being found by Julian Draxler (17').

A warning sign before the opener! As the Spaniard was able to break the deadlock three minutes later when his touch enabled him to hit a left footed strike into the opposite side netting (0-1, 20').

After 20 tight minutes, the game then changed. On one side the Rouge et Bleu pushed on to try and double their lead. On the other hand the Girondins tried to fight back by attempting to counter dangerously. At the back though the Parisian defence was very focused as shown by Presnel Kimpembe, who put in a goal-denying tackle on his line (27').

After the break Bordeaux created some nice passages of play and as the Parisian back line was being pushed back they fought and proved unbreakable. They then took advantage of the final 20 minutes to put a foot on the ball and threaten a second goal on the Matmut Atlantique pitch. And Keylor Navas once more proved decisive as he denied Briand for Bordeaux (90').

And a second one! Now on a roll on their quest for the top Paris Saint-Germain get another win after a professional performance. Ahead of them are now 10 more crucial games in the league and the Parisians will need to focus on their next battles in different competitions from the Coupe de France to the Champions League.
