The Parisians bounce back against Nîmes!

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Nîmes this Wednesday night in matchday 23 of Ligue 1 (3-0). Take a look back at the impressive victory.

The Parisians began the hectic month of February by welcoming Nîmes. The aim was to forget the defeat away at Lorient three days prior and stay close to the top of the table. Mauricio Pochettino opted for a 4-4-2 formation with a Mbappé-Kean partnership in attack.

The start the game showed that the defending champions were here to play. Unsurprinsingly the two teams' different play styles was clear for all to see with Paris Saint-Germain set up in a high line going up against a deep defensive block. Despite Nîmes attempts to limit spaces they weren't able to hold strong for too long as the Rouge et Bleu created a flurry of dangerous opportunities.

The Parisians created chance after chance with a Kylian Mbappé on top form, a thunderous strike from  Pablo Sarabia (4') and Moise Kean hitting the post (11'). But in the end it was Angel Di Maria who broke the deadlock. After winning the ball high up the pitch the Argentine went alone before putting the ball past Baptiste Reynet  (1-0, 18').

With that lead Mauricio Pochettino's could really get a hold on the game in a truly one way first half. Paredes hit one from distance (21') and Thilo Kehrer  hit the bar (22'). Later on  Pablo Sarabia doubled the lead by heading the ball home from a perfect Angel Di Marie cross (2-0, 36').

The Rouge et Bleu were spot on for the whole game and kept on knocking on Nîmes' door who tried to attack in vain.  Sergio Rico also put in a solid performance by dealing with the few attempts on goal (40', 49', 51').

The defending champions looked after that lead by keeping the ball and attacking in phases. And Kylian Mbappé wrapped the win up with a stunner. The number seven curled one into the top corner leaving Reynet with no chance! (3-0, 68'). A job well done.

Kylian Mbappé carries on in his quest for top scorer in Ligue 1 (15 goals), Angel Di Maria at the top of the assists table (7 assists), Pablo Sarabia scored in his first start under Pochettino and the team begin the hectic month of February in the best way possible. A great way to prepare for the Classique against Olympique de Marseille this Sunday and more encounters in the upcoming weeks.
