The KM-7 Constellation

In picking up his 155th and 156th goals for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday against Saint-Etienne, Kylian Mbappé ensured an even greater place in the club from the capital’s history. We take a telescopic zoom on his 156 goals and his out of this world performances.

The Paris Saint-Germain galaxy is made up of numerous stars, but there is one constellation in particular that never stops shining. It’s Kylian Mbappé who is attracting the attention of the whole football universe.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has now equalled Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record in terms of goals scored in Rouge et Bleu, a total that he has achieved in 205 appearances. That means that he has an incredible head start on Cavani, the club’s all-time top scorer, who took 226 matches to find the back of the net on 156 occasions.

119 goals with his right, 32 with his left and 4 with his head, Mbappé has scored at least one goal in 110 matches (in 205 matches). When he has found the back of the net, Kylian has won 100 times and has only lost on 7 occasions, a demonstration of the World Champion’s character. This stat came into its own once more on Saturday, with Paris trailing Les Stéphanois early on. Mbappé was able to turn things around, scoring a brace and delivering an incredible assist for Danilo for the third goal of the evening.

This season, KM7 has been directly involved in a goal every 74 minutes across all competitions (24 goals and 14 assists). With an ability to score and provide for others, Paris Saint-Germain’s number 7 has developed his game in order to became a complete player and an inspiration.

The Parc des Princes rose to its feet when he was replaced at the end of the encounter, before Kylian spoke to PSG TV to express his gratitude for the supporters’ reaction: "My 156th goal? It's incredibly special. I think that having the opportunity to be able to equal the record of a player like Ibrahimovic is fantastic. We all know what he did here, so it means that we are playing with high standards. And being able to score at the Parc des Princes and to equal the record here is particularly special. Here, at home, in front of the supporters, who have always supported us, so we are very happy to have this moment. We have important times ahead of us and we all want to head in the same direction."

Although he has never topped the assists rankings at the end of the season, Kylian Mbappé picked up his 10th assist of the campaign in Ligue 1, which is already his best total and the joint-top tally this year in the top flight, on a par with Lionel Messi! Leo has set up the highest number of assists for Mbappé this season, with 4 assists. Angel Di Maria (23) and Neymar Jr (18) have picked up most assists for Kylian since joining Les Rouge et Bleu.

Since his Ligue 1 debut, Mbappé has been involved in more goals (167) than any other player, with 121 goals and 46 assists, and sits ahead of... Edinson Cavani (115).

If you like watching the stars, the KM-7 constellation is a sight to behold. With his constant development, we can hope to see it develop into one of the biggest in the PSG Galaxy.
