Only one Austrian has ever played for Paris Saint-Germain: striker Richard Niederbacher, who spent the 1984–1985 season at the capital club.

This will be just the second-ever meeting between Paris and Sturm Graz. The two teams first faced each other in a friendly on 9th July 2013, with the Austrian side winning 3-1 in what was Laurent Blanc’s first game in charge of Les Parisiens.

Paris Saint-Germain have come up against two Austrian teams – namely Sturm Graz and Rapid Vienna – across five competitive fixtures, of which they have won three, drawn one and lost one. In fact, one of those three wins was the unforgettable 1-0 victory over Rapid in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final on 8th May 1996 in Brussels.

This will be Les Rouge et Bleu’s third game in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt, following on from their 3-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais in the Trophée des Champions on 6th August 2016 and their 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on 9th July 2018.

Paris Saint-Germain haven’t been beaten in their first friendly of pre-season since the aforementioned 3-1 loss to Sturm Graz in 2013. Since then, Les Rouge et Bleu have recorded nine wins and one draw in pre-season, and last year, they got their preparations underway with a 2-0 victory over Le Havre at PSG Campus in Poissy.

Paris have scored at least once in each of their 19 pre-season openers since 8th July 2005, when they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bordeaux.
