Stats & Facts: The win over Brugge

Match in numbers

All the key numbers from Tuesday's convincing 4-1 UEFA Champions League win against Club Brugge.

A GOOD WIN TO FINISH

Already assured of their place in the Round of 16 before kick-off - joining Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and, potentially Barcelona, as they only teams to have reached the knockout stages in the last ten seasons - Paris Saint-Germain did not take their foot off the gas. If anything, they pressed down on the pedal. They have now scored in their last 38 group stages games in the competition, a run that stretches back to November 2015.

PARIS, THE BELGIANS' BÊTE NOIRE

Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in four UEFA Champions League games against Club Brugge (3 wins) making them the team the club has played most without losing (along with Dynamo Kiev and Anderlecht). At the Parc des Princes, Paris remain unbeaten in seven matches against Belgian opposition: Anderlecht (3 matches), Gent (1 match), Club Brugge  (2 matches) and Waterschei (1 match), registering five wins in that streak.

MBAPPÉ FULL THROTTLE

Kylian Mbappé took his UEFA Champions League goals tally to 31, the youngest player to reach that tally in the competition's history (22 years, 352 days). After just 6 minutes and 21 seconds, our number 7 scored the second-quickest brace in the competition's history behind only Rodrygo for Real Madrid against Galatasaray in November 2019 (6 minutes, 13 seconds). The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's opening goal after just 1 minute and 11 seconds was the fastest of his career, beating the 1 minute and 39 seconds he took to score against Nantes in Ligue 1 on 20 November this season.

ARGENTINA CENTRE STAGE

Lionel Messi also scored twice and in finding the net struck against the 38th different opponent of his UEFA Champions League career, equalling the competition record of Cristiano Ronaldo. His compatriot Angel Di Maria provided a wonderful assist for Mbappé, and has now set up a goal in 12 different UEFA Champions League seasons - only Cristiano (14) and Messi (13) have done better since OPTA started analysing the competition in 2003/04. By coming off the bench, Leandro Paredes brought up his 100th appearance for the Rouge-et-Bleu in competitive games.
