Match in numbers

All the key stats from the 2-0 Ligue 1 win on Wednesday.

PARIS PULLS CLEAR

Thanks to their win over the league's bottom team (22 wins in 25 games against the bottom side since 2011), Paris Saint-Germain have stretched their lead to seven points over second-placed RC Lens, who were held 2-2 at Strasbourg.

Paris are now unbeaten in 38 competitive games at the Parc des Princes (32 wins), the longest run in their history after April 2016 to February 2018 (51).

With 47 points after 18 league games, Paris have registered the fourth-highest tally ever after themselves in 2015/16 (48), Lyon in 2006/07 (49), and themselves again in 2018/19 (50).

MUKIELE AND EKITIKE TO THE FORE

With two assists against Angers, Nordi Mukiele confirmed his good recent form. It's the second time he's set up two goals in a game in one of Europe's top five leagues after previously doing so for RB Leipzig against Augsburg on 8 May 2022. He even came close to a goal for himself, but saw his header from a Lionel Messi corner saved by Paul Bernardoni late on.

Hugo Ekitike has been involved in six goals in his last six matches in all competitions (4 goals, 2 assists). He's scored three goals from six shots on target in Ligue 1 this season.

MESSI is back

It was Leo Messi's first game since the World Cup final, and the Argentina international was given a warm welcome by the fans, marking his return with a rare right-footed goal!

The Parisian number 30 has 18 goal involvements in Ligue 1 this season (8 goals, 10 assists). Only Neymar Jr has more (21). In total, he's been involved in 52 goals in 54 competitive games with Paris (24 goals, 28 assists).
