Stats & Facts : Recap on the victory over Saint-Étienne

Match in numbers

In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain's 3-1 victory over Saint-Etienne on Sunday 28 November at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard, find out the key stats and facts from match day 15 of Ligue 1.

Paris fill the tank

Paris Saint-Germain's victory in Le Forez was their 13th win in 15 Ligue 1 matches this season. A total that has only been surpassed once by a team at this stage of a season, in 2018-2019 by the Parisians themselves (14 wins). Trailing on Sunday before turning things around, the capital club won a game after conceding the opening goal for the fifth time in the league this season, already equalling their record for a full season, set on four occasions, in 1985-1986, 2003-2004, 2014-2015 and 2011-2012.

Success for le rouge et bleu against Saint-Étienne

Paris Saint-Germain are now unbeaten in their last 17 Ligue 1 matches against Saint-Etienne (12 wins, 5 draws), their longest unbeaten run against an opponent in the top flight, and remain on a streak of 23 official matches against Les Verts without defeat (18 wins and 5 draws). The capital club's record of 26 matches without defeat against Angers is not far off. The Parisians recorded their 50th win against the Foréziens in official matches, a symbolic milestone they had never before reached against the same club. With 164 goals conceded in all competitions against the Red and Blue, Saint-Etienne is also the most 'generous' club with Paris, ahead of Lyon (160 goals).

An unusual 'hat trick' for Lionel Messi

With three assists at Geoffroy-Guichard, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker became the first Red and Blue player to achieve such a performance away from home in the league since the creation of the assists league table at the beginning of the 2007-2008 season. At the Parc des Princes, only his teammate Angel Di Maria (5-1 against Lyon on 13/12/2015 and 4-0 against Marseille on 27/10/2019), his compatriot Javier Pastore (3-1 against Metz on 28/04/2015 and 7-1 against Monaco on 15/04/2018) and former Parisian number 14 Blaise Matuidi (5-1 against Angers on 23/01/2016) have managed to do so with the capital club in Ligue 1 over this period. The former Barcelona man provided the third 'hat-trick' of assists of his club and league career against Les Verts after 12 March 2016 against Getafe and 9 February 2020 against Betis.

Sergio Ramos, act 1

The Paris Saint-Germain defender made his official debut against Saint-Etienne. At 35 years and 243 days old, he became the oldest outfield player to make his Ligue 1 debut for Paris since David Beckham, who played his first game in Ligue 1 against Marseille on 24 February 2013 (2-0) at 37 years and 298 days. Against Les Verts, the red and blue number 4 attempted 101 passes, the highest total of the match and a record for a Paris Saint-Germain player making his Ligue 1 debut since Opta began analysing this data (2006-2007). He became the 480th player in the history of the capital club, and the 10th Spaniard to wear the Parisian shirt after Mikel Arteta, Yuri Berchiche, Juan Bernat, Cristobal Parralo, Enrique De Lucas, Ander Herrera, Jesé, Sergio Rico et Pablo Sarabia.
