Stats & Facts: A look back at the draw against Nice

Match in numbers

In the wake of the 0-0 draw between Paris Saint-Germain and OGC Nice on Wednesday, December 1 at the Parc des Princes, check out the key stats and highlights of the Ligue 1 Round 16 clash.

PARIS REMAIN UNBEATEN ON HOME TURF

The capital club shared the points with their counterparts from Nice, ending a fine home run of 11 wins in official matches, but remain unbeaten at their home ground this season. Against Nice, they are on an eight-match unbeaten run (six wins, two draws), and have not lost at the Parc des Princes against this opponent since 7 November 2009, a run of 11 matches without defeat (seven wins, four draws). The draw with Christophe Galtier's side was the 76th meeting between the two teams, and the record remains positive for the Rouge et Bleu with 32 wins, 22 draws and 22 defeats.

PARIS STALL BUT REMAIN CLEAR IN FRONT

Against Les Aiglons, Paris went without a win for just a third time this season (13 wins), following the 2-0 defeat at Rennes on 3 October and the 0-0 draw at Marseille on 24 October. Despite this goalless draw, Paris Saint-Germain are still comfortably ahead of Marseille in the league standings, with 41 points from a possible 48, 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals. Yesterday, the Parisians conceded their first 0-0 home draw in Ligue 1 since 19 February 2017 (against Toulouse). It was also the first draw for the Rouge et Bleu at the Parc in the top flight since 28 November 2020 (2-2 against Bordeaux), which thus ends a series of 20 games without sharing points at home (16 wins, 4 defeats).

LACK OF CUTTING EDGE FOR PARIS

Despite numerous attempts, the capital club did not manage to find the back of the net. Paris attempted 22 shots against Nice (five on target), their highest scoreless total in a Ligue 1 match since 20 March 2016 (23 against Monaco). It was their first home game without scoring in the elite since 3 April (0-1 against Lille).

Newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi attempted six shots (one on target) against Les Aiglons, his highest scoreless total in a league outing since 10 April (seven with Barcelona against Real Madrid).

SOLID AS A ROCK

And while the Parisians did not manage to find a breakthrough, they managed to keep a clean sheet thanks to a solid defensive line and a great performance Gigio Donnarumma, who made several beautiful saves, notably an incredible one from close range on a header from Delort (31'). Nice are, however, the first team to leave the Parc des Princes with a point this season.

THE GOLDEN PARC

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Leo Messi, respective winners of the 2021 Yashine Trophy and Ballon d'Or, presented their trophies to the Parc des Princes crowd 15 minutes before kick-off. For the occasion, the Parc was entirely dressed in gold, and two fireworks exploded as the two winners entered.

FABIO QUARTARARO A SPECIAL GUEST AT THE PARC DES PRINCES

Fabio Quartararo, who on October 24 became the first Frenchman to be crowned MotoGP motorbike world champion, was a guest as his hometown club Nice came calling at the Parc and gave the honorary kick-off to the match. A big football fan, he had the opportunity to talk to several Parisian players he already knew: "After my title, I got messages from Verratti, Hakimi, Neymar, Ramos and Mbappé. It's a real pleasure. I don't know them all personally even though we message regularly on social media."
