Stats & Facts : A look back at the visit from the Monegasques

Match in numbers

Take a look at the key statistics and events from the draw between the Parisians and AS Monaco on Matchday 4 of Ligue 1, on Sunday 28 August at the Parc des Princes.

Neymar JR continues his fine form

Paris Saint-Germain's No.10 continued his excellent start to the season and was once again decisive in scoring the penalty that gave Paris a draw. Neymar Jr scored his 6th goal in Ligue 1 against Monaco, only bettering his 8 goals against Bordeaux. Having scored 6 goals and made 6 assists in Ligue 1 this season, he has climbed to the top of the ranking of the top scorers and assisters of this season so far.

In total, the Brazilian has been involved in 25 Ligue 1 goals in 2022 (16 goals, 9 assists), with only Kylian Mbappé (23 goals and 9 assists) doing better among players in Europe's top 5 leagues this year.  O pai tá on!

Paris persistent but not rewarded

Despite only managing a draw, Christophe Galtier's players were not lacking in their efforts. With a total of 18 shots to Monaco's 4, the Parisians dominated the game but ultimately failed to capitalise. Leo Messi's teammates have hit the woodwork 28 times in Ligue 1 since the start of last season, at least 12 more times than any other team over the period. The Argentine has hit the woodwork 12 times since the start of the 2021/22 season, at least three more times than any other player in the top flight.

As proof of their determination, the capital club have taken 23 points after being behind in Ligue 1 since the start of last season. Only Hoffenheim have done better among the teams of the five major European leagues over the same period, with 25 points.

PARIS STILL LEAD AND UNDEFEATED

The capital club continued its unbeaten run and retained its position at the top of Ligue 1 with 10 points, ahead of second-placed Marseille. And in front of their fans, Paris never disappoints! The Red and Blue continued their unbeaten run at home in Ligue 1 with a 24th consecutive game without defeat in front of the Porte d'Auteuil fans with the 1-1 draw against Monaco. The Parisians finished the 2021/2022 season without defeat on the Parisian pitch. Christophe Galtier's men will be looking to repeat this in this campaign.
