Stats & Facts: A look back at the match against Strasbourg

Match in numbers

Here are the key facts and figures from Friday 2 February's Ligue 1 Matchday 20 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and RC Strasbourg Alsace.

run after run

Another victory for Paris Saint-Germain. First of all, it is the 17th consecutive unbeaten away match for the club from the capital. It's worth noting that the club's all-time record is 19, which this team is not far off reaching.

Secondly, Strasbourg have been on the receiving end of Parisian domination, with PSG now unbeaten in 14 consecutive matches against the Alsatian club (10 wins, 4 draws). Paris is a thorn in RCSA's side, as 2 of Strasbourg's last 3 Ligue 1 defeats have come against Paris (on Matchday 9 in October and this Friday evening, as well as a defeat on Matchday 14 in December against Reims).

Finally, this is the 21st meeting in a row between the two teams that has not ended in a goalless draw. The last 0-0 draw between Paris and Strasbourg dates back to 2004. We were young back then...

MBAPPE / ASENSIO : winning duo

So far, 2024 has been marked by the partnership between Kylian Mbappé and Marco Asensio, who have been particularly effective together. The first Paris goal scored by KM on Friday came from the Spaniard's pressing, as he stole the ball from the opposing keeper. Then the second goal, scored by Asensio, was set up by Mbappé. It's an excellent partnership, and one that's been paying dividends since the start of the year.

In fact, Marco Asensio is involved in a goal every 73 minutes with Paris in Ligue 1 this season (4 goals and 2 assists in 440 minutes), his best ratio in a league season (previous record at one every 84 minutes with Real Madrid in 2019-20). For his part, Mbappé scored his 20th Ligue 1 goal of the season in his 19th match. Over the last 50 years, no player has achieved this feat more quickly in a L1 season (also 19 matches for Ibrahimovic in 2015-16, Cavani in 2016-17 and Mbappé again in 2018-19).

2600 MATCHES FOR PARIS

PSG played the 2600th official match in their history since 1970 against Strasbourg. The record is 1361 wins, 613 draws and 626 defeats (a match lost on penalties is statistically considered a draw). It's up to you to work out the percentage, but we reckon it's not bad!

A run of three home games now awaits the Rouge et Bleu, who entertain Brest in the Coupe de France on Wednesday, Lille in Ligue 1 on Saturday and Real Sociedad in the Champions League Round of 16. That's 100% of matches at the Parc des Princes. Yes, that one was easy...
