Stats & facts: A look back at the win against Brest

Match in numbers

The day after Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 victory over Brest at the Parc des Princes on Saturday 10 September, take a look at the key stats and facts from the Ligue 1 matchday 7 game.

A BRILLIANT START TO THE SEASON

The club from the capital emerged victorious from this confrontation with the Bretons, and thus remains unbeaten after 7 Ligue 1 matches this season (6 wins, 1 draw). This is the 9th time that the Parisians have maintained their unbeaten record after 7 matches in a French championship season in the 21st century, having finished champions in 7 of their previous 8 seasons in this situation (the only exception was in 2001-2002, when they finished 4th). The Rouge et Bleu have gone unbeaten in their last 16 Ligue 1 games (12 wins, 4 draws), the longest ongoing streak in the top flight and their longest since May 2018-January 2019 (21).

THE clean sheet IS STILL INTACT

Paris Saint-Germain's goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, made several decisive saves, especially from Islam Slimani's 70th minute penalty. It was the third clean sheet in a row in Ligue 1, their longest streak in a single season since January 2021 (also 3).

NEYMAR JR still IRReSISTIBLE

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr scored his eighth Ligue 1 goal of the season, taking sole lead in the Ligue 1 scoring charts, one ahead of team-mate Kylian Mbappé. The Brazilian international, who had never scored against SB29 before, has now scored at least one goal against each of the 25 teams he has faced in the top flight. The rouge et bleu number 10 scored his 110th goal in all competitions on Saturday, becoming the fourth highest scorer in the history of the club, one ahead of Pedro Miguel Pauleta. Only Edinson Cavani (200 goals), Kylian Mbappé (180 goals) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (156 goals) have done better in the Rouge et Bleu.

MESSI provides a lovely assist

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi provided his seventh assist in Ligue 1 this season, becoming the sole leader of the French league's assist charts, one ahead of the Mogi das Cruzes native. The Argentinian international's 21st Ligue 1 assist since joining Paris is more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues over that period. The rouge et bleu number 30 has hit the woodwork 13 times in the French league since the start of last season, at least two more than any other player in Europe's top five, and was unlucky to hit the post with a clever header in the 50th minute. In comparison, the entire Brest team has hit the woodwork 14 times over the same period in the top flight!

PREMIER appearance for FABIAN... HAKIMI in the TOP 50!

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz made his official debut for the club on Saturday when he replaced Marco Verratti in the 62nd minute. Ruiz, who arrived from Napoli this summer, became the 491st player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain and the 12th Spaniard to wear the rouge et bleu shirt after Mikel Arteta, Enrique de Lucas, Cristobal, Jesé, Yuri Berchiche, Juan Bernat, Ander Herrera, Pablo Sarabia, Sergio Rico, Sergio Ramos and Carlos Soler. Paris defender Achraf Hakimi, meanwhile, played his 50th official match for the club against Brest.
