Stats & Facts: A look at the Benfica game

Match in numbers

All the key stats from Wednesday's UEFA Champions League draw in Lisbon.

MESSI, OH YES!!

The scorer of a superb opener that capped a great team move, Leo Messi again stood out, confirming his fine start to the season. The Argentine has now scored against 40 teams in the Champions League, extending the record he set against Maccabi Haifa.

Leo has now scored in four successive competitive games for Paris for the first time, and his first such run since February 2021. As if any more proof of his form was needed...

Well, here's some: it's the first time he has 100% successful dribbles (5/5) and 100% duels won (7/7) in the same game in the competition.

NEYMAR 30 up, BERNAT the centurion

With his pass to tee up Messi, Neymar Jr registered his 30th Champions League assist since his debut in the competition on 18 September 2013, six more than any other player in that period. It was his sixth for Messi in the competition, but his first since they were reunited in Paris.

After coming on for Nuno Mendes after 67 minutes,  Juan Bernat played his 100th competitive game for Paris Saint-Germain. The Spain international has played 66 Ligue 1 matches (1 goal, 6 assists), nine in the Coupe de France, 3 in the Coupe de la Ligue, 2 Trophées des Champions and 20 UEFA Champions League games (5 goals, 2 assists).

PARIS STILL OUT IN FRONT

Paris Saint-Germain remain top of Group H ahead of the visit of Benfica to the Parc des Princes next week. Should they win next Tuesday, Christophe Galtier's men will be ideally placed to reach the knockout stages. Haifa then come to the French capital on Matchday 5 before a trip to Turin wraps up the group stage.
