Match in numbers

Check out the third part of our look at the key stats and highlights from the 2022-23 season, which saw the Parisians lift a record 11th Ligue 1 trophy.

A CRAZY ATTACK

With 89 goals scored, Paris Saint-Germain ended the 2022-23 season as the league's leading attacking force - for the sixth season running. This is the third-highest goal total for a team in the five major leagues behind Manchester City (94) and Bayern Munich (92). The capital club are ahead of a host of European giants including Arsenal (88), Borussia Dortmund (83), Napoli (77), Real Madrid (75) and Liverpool (75).

The Parisians also scored 44 away goals in Ligue 1 this season, more than any other team in Europe's top five leagues. In the 21st century, only Olympique Lyonnais have managed to do better in France, with 49 away goals during the 2017-18 season.

A NEW STRIKER TAKES THE THRONE

The spearhead of Les Rouge et Bleu's attack, Kylian Mbappé, scored his 201st goal for the capital club against FC Nantes on 4 March 2023, making club history that night. The Parisian striker became Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top scorer, overtaking former record holder Edinson Cavani and his 200 goals.

A few weeks later, the French international repeated the feat at the Parc des Princes. By scoring his 139th league goal for the capital club in a 3-1 victory over RC Lens on 15 April 2023, the Rouge et Bleu striker became Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top-flight top scorer. He once again beat his former team-mate Edinson Cavani (138 goals).

KM7 ON TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Kylian Mbappé was voted best player in Ligue 1 at the 2019, 2021 and 2022 UNFP Trophies, and was once again voted best player in the league by his peers this season. The Paris striker beat Lois Openda (RC Lens), Jonathan David (Lille OSC) and his team-mate Léo Messi. The Paris No.7 became the first player in the league's history to win the trophy for the fourth time in succession.

With 29 goals and six assists in 33 Ligue 1 games this season, Kylian Mbappé also became the first player to win the French league's top scorer award for the fifth time in a row after 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. During the last season, the French international won a merciless battle with Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette, scorer of 27 goals.
