Stats and records: Kylian Mbappé 5-out-of-5

With his five-goal haul in the Coupe de France, the Paris Saint-Germain forward earned himself another slice of history. We take a look at five of his major career stats!

5  GOALS AND TOP SPOT

Kylian Mbappé hit the ground running in this season's Coupe de France! In the starting XI against Pays de Cassel, he became the first player wearing the Rouge-et-Bleu shirt to score five times in a single game, adding an assist for good measure.

After finishing as leading scorer at the World Cup (8 goals), he's currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 (13), the Champions League (7) and the Coupe de France (5).

FIVE OFF THE RECORD

Kylian Mbappé has grabbed a number of records since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain, and a big one is almost within reach. At just 23 years of age, he's already scored 196 times for the club, and is only five away from dethroning Edinson Cavani as the club's all-time leading goalgetter.

FIVE-STAR PASSERs

"I'm fortunate that here I'm in a team in which I have the best possible conditions in which to perform. When you play in a team where the players who tee you up are Messi and Neymar, of course it's easier, let's not make any bones about it," Mbappé told PSG TV a little more than a year ago.

Neymar Jr has now laid on 25 goals for Mbappé, the most of any of the France forward's teammates, edging ahead of Angel Di Maria (24) with his assist in the Coupe de France tie.

HIS FIVE FAVOURITE OPPONENTS

There are some opponents who must hate facing Kylian Mbappé even more than others. He's scored against  Juventus, Barcelona, at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, against Manchesters City and United, as well as Borussia Dortmund, and there are five teams in particular in France who have suffered his talents most.

It's against Dijon (12 goals), Lyon, Monaco and Montpellier (10), and Angers, Lille and Saint-Etienne (8) that Kylian has been most clinical in a Paris shirt. You will no doubt remember him netting four times against Lyon in 2018, while he's scored ten goals in as many appearances for Paris against Montpellier.

THe BIG 5

Kylian finished 2022 as Europe's leading scorer with 56 goals in as many competitive appearances ahead of Erling Haaland (46) and Robert Lewandowski (42). And he's started the new year on a flier too with his five goals, one more than the Norwegian and three clear of the Pole.
