Stats & facts: Reims-Paris
Following the 1-1 draw between Paris Saint-Germain and Stade de Reims at the Stade Auguste Delaune on Saturday 21 September, check out the key facts and figures from the Ligue 1 Matchday 5 clash.
UNBEATEN RUN MAINTAINED
Although the capital club failed to win in Champagne country, they did manage to maintain their unbeaten record away from home. Paris Saint-Germain are now unbeaten in their last 27 away games in Ligue 1 (21 wins, six draws), the longest such run in the history of the French league.
Luis Enrique's men avoided defeat after conceding the opener for the seventh time in Ligue 1 in 2024 (two wins, five draws). Les Rouge et Bleu have a 0% losing record after conceding the opening goal in the league this year, with Olympique Lyonnais (six wins, one draw, six defeats) notching the second-best record at 46%.
DOMINATING IS NOT WINNING
Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed 78% possession in Saturday's match, the highest possession rate recorded by any team in a Ligue 1 match this season. The Parisians completed 93.7% of their passes, the third-highest percentage for a team in a single match since Opta began analysing Ligue 1 (2006-2007). Who has the top two successful pass percentages? The capital club, against RC Strasbourg Alsace (93.9%) and FC Lorient (93.8%) in 2023.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho is emblematic of this precision, having completed 136 passes in this match (out of 140 attempted). That's almost as many as the entire Reims team put together (158)! No player has completed more passes in a league match this season than the Ecuadorian international did on Saturday.
OUSMANE ‘SUPERSUB’ DEMBÉLÉ
Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembélé scored Les Rouge et Bleus' equaliser against Les Rémois three minutes and 20 seconds after coming on as a substitute. In doing so, he became the fastest goalscorer to come off the bench in Ligue 1 this season. The French international has already scored more goals in five Ligue 1 matches this season (four) than in 26 league games last term (three). He has been involved in six Ligue 1 goals this season (four goals, two assists), more than any other player.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves has provided five assists in Ligue 1 this season, more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.
