Stanley N'Soki: 'A special flavour'

After picking up his second league winner's medal with Paris Saint-Germain, the young defender told us about his 2018/19 season.

Stanley, you've won back-to-back league titles now, but this season you played a lot more...
"It's always a pleasure to win trophies. Last season, I didn't play a lot, something like 20 minutes. I learned a lot, but this season, it has a special flavour. I was in the dressing room with the pros all season, I trained on a daily basis with them. I experienced the highs and lows of the season at the very highest level. I am very happy about that."

How were the first few moments with the coach in Asia?
"When he arrived, he was smiling a lot, he made everyone feel at ease. He had a lot of enthusiasm, but he knew - like all of us here - what is means to play for Paris Saint-Germain, the pressure of results and level of demands...The pre-season in Asia went well, a lot of young players took part because a lot of players had been to the World Cup. They had less experience, but there's a lot of quality. We finished pre-season with the Trophée des Champions, which we won. I was in the starting XI, I was surprised at first, but I knew what the coach was expecting of me. I tried to meet those expectations as much as possible, and we won our first trophy of the season. There were only good things."

You provided two assists that day too..
"It's the game, there was euphoria from us, perhaps less from Monaco. But we were ready, set, they were perhaps a little less so. We took what we could. For me, playing alongside Thiago Silva or Verratti, that helps of course. And it's a pleasure to play with Christopher Nkunku or Colin Dagba, who came through the youth academy like me, it's special for us."
