Squad back in training

After undergoing a barrage of tests over two days, Thomas Tuchel's squad were out on the pitch for the first time in their build-up to the 2019/20 season.

There was a back-to-school feeling at the Ooredoo Training Centre on Wednesday. Just over a month after the end of their title-winning 2018/19, the capital club players were back on familiar territory with most of the squad out on the training pitch. The warm-up started inside, but they then did some ballwork and had a small-sided game. Presnel Kimpembe, who underwent a groin operation in May, trained on his own.

Everyone was looking forward to getting back to work, as new recruit Pablo Sarabia explained: "It's a period of adaptation. We're training a lot with the aim of having a great season, and of being ready quickly," explained the Spain international. "Pre-season is always a bit difficult, but I'm happy to be playing with the ball again. That's what we like the most, training with the ball, so that we can improve every day."

The month of July is going to be very busy for the Paris Saint-Germain players. There will be a trip to Dresden on the 16th and then another friendly in Nuremberg four days later. They'll then head to China on the 23rd before bringing pre-season to an end with the Trophée des Champions meeting with Stade Rennais in Shenzhen on 3 August.
