Sarabia and Herrera join the list of Spanish players in Paris

New signings Pablo Sarabia and Ander Herrera are just two additions to a growing list of Spaniards who have called the Parc des Princes home. We take a look back at some of their compatriots who have worn the Rouge et Bleu over the years.

In the Parc des Princes dressing room, Paris Saint-Germain’s new midfielders will be welcomed by Juan Bernat. One of last season’s stand out performers, the Paris #14 settled quickly in the French capital after arriving from Bayern Munich last summer.

Check out Juan's best moments of his debut season:

Ander Herrera isn’t the first Basque Country player to pull on a Paris Saint-Germain jersey. Fellow compatriot Yuri Berchiche enjoyed a season in Paris in 2017/2018 playing 32 games and winning three trophies before returning to Ander’s old club Athletic Bilbao.

In 2001, Cristóbal Parralo played over 60 matches in the Rouge et Bleu in a star-filled side that included the likes of Ronaldinho, Nicolas Anelka, Jay-Jay Okocha, and another Spaniard, Mikel Arteta.

Arteta enjoyed two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain with a fellow compatriot. Before Cristóbal’s arrival from Espanyol, the future Everton and Arsenal midfielder had also played alongside Enrique De Lucas from the same club. During these two seasons it was the only time until now that two players from Spain had played together in the first team. Now, nearly two decades later there is the prospect of three Spanish players lining up together in Thomas Tuchel’s new look side.

On Monday 8th July, Pablo Sarabia and Ander Herrera will begin work as the squad return for pre-season training. Both players showed this weekend how they're settling into their new surroundings:
