Retro: Coupe de France 2017/18

Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de France for a fourth successive year - let's take a look at how they did it.

They made quite a start, winning 6-1 at Rennes on 7 January in their Round of 64 opener. The attacking trio of Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappé and Angel Di Maria made the difference as they all netted twice.

Another Breton side, Guingamp, stood in the Rouge-et-Bleu's way in the Round of 32, but they were swept aside 4-2 at the Parc des Princes in late January. The Last 16 meant a trip to Sochaux, but a hat-trick from Di Maria helped the visitors to a convincing 4-1 win against their second division opponents as they marched on imperiously.

The quarter-final was a classic...or rather a Classique with Marseille the visitors to the capital. Di Maria was again the central figure as he scored twice in another 3-0 win. Caen were overcome in Normandy by Thiago Silva & Co. thanks notably to a double from Mbappé in the semi-final.

The final was a David and Goliath affair with third division Les Herbiers the surprise opponents - a 2-0 Paris Saint-Germain win, however, ensured their was no giantkilling at the Stade de France and the Rouge-et-Bleu could lay their hands on a 12th Coupe de France.
