Reims defeat Paris

The match:
Officially crowned Ligue 1 champions at the Parc des Princes last weekend, Les Rouge et Bleu were looking for a win to add a little more statistical shine to what was an excellent league campaign, away to Reims in Week 38 of the 2018-19 campaign.

Paris made a bright start but were denied by a very well-organised hosts' defence. League top scorer Kylian Mbappé saw his deflected effort flash just wide of Mendy's goal after a raid down the left (7').

Reims then opened the scoring ten minutes before le score ten minutes before the break when Oudin and Baba combined for the latter to fire home from a tight angle past Gigi Buffon (1-0, 36').

Thomas Tuchel's side went close to an equaliser early in the second half when Marquinhos and Thilo Kehrer both went close with headers (55'). At the other end, Reims doubled their advantage through Cafaro whose crisp right-foot finish gave Buffon no chance (2-0, 56').

But Les Rouge et Bleu bounced back immediately. Angel Di Maria's cross to the back post was headed back across goal by Edinson Cavani where Mbappé pounced to score his 33rd goal of the campaign (2-1, 59') - GAME ON! Paris threw everything at Reims looking for an equaliser, but it was the substitute Chavarria that secured all three points for Reims (3-1, 90+5').
