Ready for Liverpool?

The UEFA Champions League kicks off this evening with Paris Saint-Germain travelling to Anfield and a showdown with Liverpool et Paris à Anfield Road, PSG.FR gives you a few important facts and figures to keep you occupied before tonight's game...

THE MATCH
Paris and Liverpool have only met twice before, home and away in the semi-final of the 1996-97 UEFA Cup Winners Cup. In the first leg, Paris recorded a 3-0 win at the Parc des Princes (10 April 1997) and held onto a famous 3-2 qualification on Merseyside (0-2, 24 April 1997).

Tonight's match at Anfield will be the French champions tenth European match in England (4 vs Chelsea, 2 vs Arsenal and Manchester City and 1 vs Liverpool) for one win, four draws and four losses.

THE PLAYERS
Edinson Cavani is Paris' all-time leading scorer in Europe with 27 goals and he is in line to play the 45th continental match of his career - a club record along with Thiago Silva and Marco Verratti (suspended tonight).
Four players have played for both clubs: Nicolas Anelka, David Ngog, Mamadou Sakho and Mohamed Sissoko.

THE BONUS
Since Paris Saint-Germain returned to the UCL in 2012, Les Rouge et Bleu boast an excellent record in the group stage: 26 wins, 6 draws and  4 losses in 36 matches, and a total of 81 points. Only three club's have done better than Paris during the same period: Real Madrid (86 points), Bayern Munich (85) and FC Barcelona (84).
