TALENT, MADE IN FRANCE

Versatile, technical, clinical, Paris Saint-Germain’s latest attacking recruit, Randal Kolo Muani, is a pure product of French football. A native of the Île-de-France region which comprises Paris and its surrounding area, RKM began his career at FC Villepinte before moving to US Torcy, the club where a certain Paul Pogba also took his first steps in the game.

He joined FC Nantes when he was 17 years of age to complete his academy training. After a season on loan at Boulogne-sur-Mer in 2019-20, Kolo Muani quickly became first-choice striker with Les Canaris upon his return. A key element of the side that avoided relegation in 2021, with a goal in the relegation play-off match against Toulouse, he was also a major player as Nantes lifted the Coupe de France the following year – the club’s first trophy since 2001. Randal then headed across the Rhine river to Germany in 2022 where he shone in the colours of Eintracht Frankfurt.

He enjoyed a prolific first season in the Bundesliga, scoring 23 goals and providing 17 assists in all competitions, emerging as one of the stars of the competition. Able to play on the wing, or through the middle, the new Parisian forward’s lightning adaptation to German football saw him as a surprise inclusion in France’s FIFA World Cup 2022 squad.

BLEU INTENSITY

Strong, combative, skilful and intelligent, RKM is not lacking strings to his bow, and they were all on offer during Les Bleus’ remarkable campaign in Qatar.

He scored his first international goal after just 44 seconds in Bleu, securing the semi-final victory against Morocco and sending France into the World Cup final. Against Argentina, Randal was the spark that saw France fight back, earning the first penalty for Les Bleus. Kolo Muani not only burst onto the international scene in Qatar, he staked a claim as one of Europe’s best attacking players.

?? DID YOU KNOW ??

A product of the FC Nantes youth academy, Randal Kolo Muani almost played for… Stade Rennais, the arch-rival of Les Canaris. Without a club at the time and looking to take the next step, the 17-year-old from Bondy was knocked back by SRFC only for his brother to secure him one last trial with FCN… the rest, is history!
