THE STATS
opposition strengths
Peter Bosz and his team usually line up in a 4-3-3. In goal, ex-Nice goalkeeper and Argentina international Walter Benitez is set to return to the Parc des Princes with young Ryan Flamingo (21) and Frenchman Olivier Boscagli in front of him in the centre of defence. On the right, Sergiño Dest's ACL injury rules him out, while Rick Karsdorp is also sidelined, leaving centre-back Adamo Nagalo to deputise.
On the left, Mauro Júnior is likely to start though the versatile Matteo Dams (20) could also make an appearance. Key midfielder Schouten is absent so Armando Obispo or Tygo Land (18) will occupy the defensive midfield role. Joey Veerman (1 goal, 5 assists) is another injury victim. Netherlands international Guus Til, who has four goals and five assists in 12 competitive appearances this season, and Ismael Saibari, who came through impressively last season, are the most likely other starters in the middle of the park.
Up front, the highly promising Johan Bakayoko (21, 2 goals, 2 assists) should start on the right, while on the left, the injured Hirving Lozano (4 goals, 1 assist in five games) and the ineligible Ivan Perisic are out. Bosz still has options though with Noa Lang and USA international Malik Tillman (4 goals, 2 assists), who joined from Bayern Munich in a permanent deal this summer, in competition to start.
Captain Luuk de Jong (7 goals, 4 assists in 11 games) is expected to add to his 112 European competition appearances. The 34-year-old forward has scored 39 times and tallied 18 assists in those games. His first goal in the Champions League came on 2 November 2010, almost 14 years ago...another USA international, Ricardo Pepi (3 goals) may also feature.
