The preview: Milan-Paris

As Paris travels to Milan for Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday 7 November at 9pm, we take a closer look at the upcoming game. From league tables and dynamics to memories and players to watch, we take a look at the match that awaits our Red and Blues against ACM.

STANDINGS UPDATE

Following their emphatic 3-0 win over Milan on the previous matchday, the Parisians are top of Group F with 6 points. The Parisians are so far the only team in the group to have won twice, following their opening-day 2-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund.

AC Milan, meanwhile, are bottom of a very even group with 2 points. This position may seem misleading, given the Rossoneri's obvious qualities in the first part of the group stage. Prior to their defeat to the Red and Blues, the Milanese had not conceded a single goal in the competition, drawing first with Newcastle (0-0) and then with Dortmund (0-0).

A look back at the last meeting

The two sides met on Matchday 3 of the group stage at the Parc des Princes on 25 October. In an fantastic atmosphere, the Parisians took the lead just after the half-hour mark thanks to Kylian Mbappé, who got the better of Fikayo Tomori and unleashed a low shot that left Mike Maignan helpless (1-0, 32'). After the break, Paris thought they had doubled their lead thanks to an Ousmane Dembélé strike, but the French winger's goal was disallowed for offside.

But that didn't hold the Parisians back, as a few moments later Dembélé unleashed a shot that forced Maignan to push the ball out to a well-placed Randal Kolo Muani: the French international slotted home from close range (2-0, 53'). The Paris-trained goalkeeper then kept his side in the game by twice denying Kylian Mbappé, who was on top form. But in the dying moments of the game, Warren Zaïre-Emery provided his second assist of the evening, this time to Lee Kang-In, who scored with the inside of his left foot (3-0, 89'). Celebrations in the capital were in full swing as Paris Saint-Germain recorded a memorable 3-0 victory over AC Milan.

the opponents to keep an eye on

On Tuesday evening, the Rossoneri will have no choice but to score their first goal of the competition and try to break down the Parisian defence if they are to have any hope of qualifying for the next round. The danger for the Milanese side, therefore, is likely to come from the attack.

Rafael Leao, who was dangerous in the first leg, will undoubtedly be one of the players to watch for the Parisians. The Portuguese international has been decisive on six occasions in the league this season (3 goals, 3 assists), and his importance to ACM's attack is growing year on year. At the Parc des Princes, he touched the ball 49 times, more than any other Milan forward or midfielder. With his 4 shots, he was also the man who tried to trouble Gianluigi Donnarumma in the first half, before the Red and Blues managed to take control of the match.

On the Rossoneri right flank, another in-form winger will be looking to turn the match in his side's favour: Christian Pulisic. The American international, who arrived from Chelsea in the summer, has enjoyed a very successful start to the season. He has also been decisive on six occasions in the league this season (4 goals, 2 assists), and showed his qualities in the first leg at the Parc des Princes. AC Milan's No11 completed 3 dribbles, the highest total in the Italian team. He was also the player with the most actions leading to a shot (3) and the most successful passes in the final third (9) for his team.

Last but not least, Olivier Giroud should be leading the line in Milan's attack against the capital club. The ACM centre-forward scored twice at Napoli just a week ago, taking his tally to 6 goals and 3 assists in the league this season. With Marquinhos and Milan Skriniar taking care of him well in the previous meeting between the two sides, Olivier Giroud will be looking to exact his revenge on the Parisian defence at the San Siro. Other players such as Davide Calabria, Yunus Musah and French internationals Théo Hernandez and Mike Maignan are also expected to lead the Lombardy outfit's assault.

He is expected to continue in the starting line-up against Milan. On Tuesday evening, Warren Zaïre-Emery will be in the spotlight at the San Siro, following a scintillating performance in the first leg against the Rossoneri. The France U-21 international set up Kylian Mbappé's opener for Les Rouge et Bleu and then repeated the trick late on with a second, this time to Lee Kang-In.

With 4 chances created, the highest total of the match, our Parisian Titi dazzled the Parc des Princes crowd. The man of the match also made 8 ball recoveries, the highest total of the match. Once again decisive at the weekend with a goal in the win over Montpellier, Warren Zaïre-Emery will be looking to guide his side to another success, this time away to Milan.
