Presnel Kimpembe: "Stand the test of time"

The central defender, who extended his adventure with Paris Saint-Germain until 2024, talks about his link with the club from the capital and the challenges that await him and his teammates in the coming weeks.

Presnel, how does it feel to have extended your contract with Paris Saint-Germain?
"Paris is my team, and the club where I came through the ranks. I have been here since I was eight years old and to be able to be here for the long-term is a real honour for me. I hope that I can continue to win lots of matches and lots of trophies."

You returned to training just a short while ago...
"We are all very happy to be back together. It was a difficult period for the entire world, and we wanted to get out of it. We can't wait, there are some great matches to come, matches with a lot at stake, and we can't wait to get back to competitive football."

What is your best memory here?
"My list of memories is long! I have been here for a very long time. My first professional contract remains a very special memory, because it was the culmination of lots of work and sacrifices. There was also my professional debut, against Lens at the Stade de France, my first match in the Champions League against Barcelona, the victory over Dortmund... I could carry on!"

You have played with some great players here, Thiago Silva is a particular example...
"Thiago has brought me a lot, both on and off of the pitch. I try to use him as a role model, especially with his extremely professional attitude, his style of playing and his positioning. I am very proud to be able to say that today."

What is your relationship like with Thomas Tuchel?
When the coach arrived, we spoke a lot. He spoke to me about the way he sees things, he shared his philosophy, and I find myself in his approach. He has an incredible personality, he is able to be very funny and we have a good mutual understanding."

You will face Atalanta in the quarter finals in the Champions League...
"We will need to be very careful, and we mustn't underestimate the opposition. We will need to prepare well, we know that they are a very attacking side. They will be as hungry to win as we are, we will need to be ready, knowing that it will come down to just one match."
