Parisian Derby, act 9

On Friday morning, Paris Saint-Germain will be back on the pitch for a friendly against Paris Football Club behind closed doors at the Camp des Loges.

Two clubs and a shared history in the early 1970s: it was after the merger between the Paris Football Club and the Stade Sangermanois association that Paris Saint-Germain was born, with publication in the Journal Officiel on 12 August 1970.

Two years later, after the split in 1972, Paris Saint Germain gave up its place in the first division to Paris FC, who had just joined forces with CA Montreuil to become the resident club of the brand new Parc des Princes.

In 1974, the two clubs would meet a very different fate: Paris FC were relegated to the second division, while Paris Saint-Germain were promotes and never left the top flight.

The two clubs from the capital have not faced each other since 14 July 2017, in a match at the Camp des Loges behind closed doors, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Parisian derby between the two teams has only been played twice in official matches, both times in the top flight, with two draws at the Parc des Princes (2-2 on 18/08/1978, 1-1 on 17/12/1978).

This is also the ninth time the two clubs have faced each other, including friendly matches, with a record of one win, five draws and two defeats for the Rouge et Bleu.

The match will be broadcast live on PSG TV Premium at 11:30 this Friday, December 16, with Jocelyn Veluire and Laure Boulleau on commentary.
