POTENTIAL OPPONENTS

Liverpool FC (ENG)

The 2019 winners finished top of the 'Group of Death' ahead of Atletico, Porto and AC Milan. One of the competition favourites.

Last meeting: The Reds won 3-2 at Anfield in the clubs' 2018/19 group stage encounter before Paris scored a memorable 2-1 win at the Parc.

LIVERPOOL

Ajax Amsterdam (NED)

The Dutch champions comfortably won their group ahead of Sporting, Borussia Dortmund and Besiktas. Impressive this season, the Amsterdam outfit would be a formidable opponent.

Last meeting: It was the  2014/15 group stage. Paris drew 1-1 in Amsterdam and won 3-1 at home thanks to an Edinson Cavani brace and a Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike.

Real Madrid (ESP)

The Champions League's most successful club, Madrid recovered from a surprise home loss to Sheriff Tiraspol. The Spanish club, who finished ahead of Inter Milan, can count on an in-form Karim Benzema.

Last meeting: In the 2018/19 Round of 16. Paris lost 3-1 in Spain and 2-1 at the Parc des Princes.

Bayern Munich (GER)

Bayern didn't blink in a tough-looking group alongside Barcelona, Benfica and Dynamo Kiev, collecting six straight wins. Another of the competition favourites.

Last meeting: Last season's quarter-final classic. Paris won 3-2 in a snowy Munich with Bayern winning 1-0 in Paris as the hosts registered one of the Club's biggest successes.

Manchester United (ENG)

It's been a turbulent season for United, who finished ahead of Atalanta and Villarreal and who still have to play for second place.

Last meeting: In the 2020/21 group stage, Paris lost 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 1 but secured progress to the knockout stages thanks in large part to a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford.

1

JUVENTUS (ITA)

Group favourites along with Chelsea, the Bianconeri pipped the holders to top spot.

Last meeting: The pair played each other in the International Champions Cup in Miami in 2017, but their last competitive encounter was the 1996 European Super Cup. Juventus won both legs: 6-1 & 1-3.
