Beaten by the Red Devils, Paris Saint-Germain recorded their first loss at the Parc des Princes in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League since the loss on December 7 2004 to CSKA Moscow (1-3). The capital club was on a run of 24 home matches without defeat in the group stage of the competition (19 wins, 5 draws). Manchester United became the 1st club to win on more than one occasion in Paris in the Champions League.

A starter in front of the defence against the English club, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Danilo Pereira made his 1st appearance for the capital club. Having arrived right at the end of the transfer window from Porto, the new number 15 became the 467th player to turn out for the Rouge et Bleu. He's also the 12th Portuguese to play for Paris Saint-Germain, after Joaquim Agostinho, João Alves, Fernando Cruz, Gonçalo Guedes, Helder, Helder Marino, Hugo Leal, Humberto Coelho, Daniel Kenedy, Pedro Miguel Pauleta and Felipe Teixeira. As for Rafinha and Moise Kean, who both came on, they took to the Parc des Princes pitch for the 1st time with the Paris shirt on their backs. The Portuguese, Brazilian and Italian, along with Alessandro Florenzi, played their 1st UEFA Champions League match in Rouge et Bleu.

Since returning to the UEFA Champions League in 2012-2013, Paris Saint-Germain, who conceded the opener to a Bruno Fernandes penalty, are the team to have given away (18) and conceded (13) the most penalties in the competition. 2 of the last 3 penalties conceded by the capital club in the Champions League have been against Manchester United: on Tuesday evening and on March 6 2019 in the return leg of the Round of 16.
