Paris Saint-Germain continues to make French football history

Crowned champions of France for the eighth time on Sunday - the sixth time in the last seven seasons - Paris Saint-Germain continues to prove its status as the most successful club in French football. The Rouge & Bleu club's list of honours now stretches to a staggering 39 trophies and the team can even secure a 40th on 27 April with what would be the 13th Coupe de France title.

This latest Championship trophy confirms Paris Saint-Germain’s extraordinary impact on French football, season after season, and comes just as the club is due to celebrate the 45th anniversary of its return to the First Division. The 2018-2019 season saw Paris Saint-Germain make the best ever start to the season in a major league, and the club has been an elite member of the French football scene since its promotion to the top flight in 1974 as well as being a proud ambassador on the international scene.

"I am delighted to see my team win the French Championship, one of the most prestigious in Europe," said Thomas Tuchel, Paris Saint-Germain coach. "Celebrating this title in front of our home crowd makes it extra special, and it's a wonderful feeling to share with our supporters.”

"We’re always so happy and proud to win a title as prestigious as the French Championship," said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO. "Ligue 1 is the flagship competition here in France, a country at the very top of world football since last summer. That alone shows the huge importance we will always give to trophies won here in this great football nation. I congratulate my players, the coach, the staff and everyone at the club who work so hard behind the scenes. Furthermore I would like to especially thank the supporters for their loyalty and unrivalled dedication. Their passion for the club is extremely important for us."
