Paris pre-season continues with Chambly test
Gianluigi Buffon made his Paris Saint-Germain as Thomas Tuchel's side were beaten 4-2 by Chambly at the Ooredoo Training Centre on Sunday in their second pre-season friendly.
After fourth-tier Sainte-Geneviève, beaten 1-0 on Wednesday, Thomas Tuchel's side came up against third-division Chambly, semi-finalists in last season's Coupe de France, on Sunday. It was a chance for the German coach to see how his team is shaping up some ten days into their pre-season preparations, and also get a first glimpse of Gianluigi Buffon in Paris colours.
Barring the Italian legend in goal, the Paris line-up was largely made up of youth academy players, and they conceded a penalty tucked away by Soubervie early on (0-1, 6'). Paris responded with efforts from Toufiqui (20') and Bernede (21') but failed to find the net. Chambly then doubled their advantage with Doucouré finishing off a counter-attack (0-2, 36'). Timothy Weah might have reduced their lead shortly after had his shot not been blocked (38').
After the restart, Chambly quickly added a third through Etshimi (0-3, 43'). Dagba struck from Fressange's cutback to pull one back for Paris (1-3, 64') and Postolachi then took advantage of a defensive lapse to reduce Paris' arrears to one (2-3, 68'). Chambly though secured the win in this 80-minute game thanks to Dadoune (2-4, 77'). Paris' next game comes on 21 July (16:05CEST) when they face Bayern Munich in their first game of the International Champions Cup in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt.
