Paris maintain momentum!

Match reports

Paris Saint-Germain made it three successive Ligue 1 wins with a 2-0 triumph in Reims on Sunday.

Up against the 2019/20 season's best defence in France, Thomas Tuchel laid out a potent attacking line-up, notably with a fearsome four-pronged attack featuring Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi

From the off, it was a clash of styles: the Parisians pushing up the pitch, Reims trying to stay compact and counter-attack. Very lively, Mbappé almost drew first blood when, after being played in by Neymar Jr, he forced a save from Predrag Rajkovic (6'). He then teed up Icardi, who clipped home the opening goal (0-1, 9').

Chances kept coming the visitors' way: Julian Draxler (12'), Di Maria (14', 15', 24'), Icardi (13'), who also showed some lovely link-up play, all could have added another. Neymar Jr very nearly did with a magnificent solo run that - had it finished with the ball in the net - would have been a Goal of the Season contender (43').

The Rouge-et-Bleu were also imperious at the back and dominant in midfield as they produced an impressive first 45 minutes.

They continued in the same vein after the break. Boulaye Dia (61') struck a post in a rare Reims foray, but Neymar Jr flicked an effort just past the far post immediately afterwards (61'), and then Mbappé teed up Icardi for number two (0-2, 63').

There were more opportunities in the closing minutes, notably for Mbappé (67', 82'), but the two goals were enough to secure a third successive win ahead of a return to the Parc des Princes on Friday where Angers will be the visitors.
