Paris get the job done in Angers

Paris Saint-Germain were victorious against SCO Angers this Saturday night in matchday 20 of Ligue 1 (0-1). Take a look back at the game!

Three days after the Olympique de Marseille victory in the jours Trophée des Champions (2-1) Paris Saint-Germain were back in Ligue 1 action away at the Stade Raymond-Kopa against Angers. And the Parisians set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with a front four of Di Maria - Neymar Jr - Mbappé - Kean.

The Parisian players quickly realised that it wouldn't be plain sailing. Without their manager Mauricio Pochettino - absent because of Covid-19 - they had to play on a tough pitch and a highly motivated Angers side. Early on Keylor Navas was called upon straight away in the 2nd minute to push a Capelle attempt wide.

The Parisians had to lift the tempo to get a foothold on the game against an impressive SCO side. Despite dominating a period of the first half the Parisians weren't able to turn that into a breakthrough and they went into the break level. It certainly felt like it was going to be tough to break the deadlock on this icy pitch.

The game livened up in the second half and the Rouge et Bleu came back from the dressing room with a desire to up the tempo. It was shown by moments of genius from Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappé who caused havoc in the Angers penalty area.  Keylor Navas was as imperious as ever and denied his opponents on numerous occasions (48', 51', 85').

The home side stayed dangerous throughout thanks to their pacy strikers but it was the Parisians who scored the opener after knocking on the door all game. And the goal came from Layvin Kurzawa! The left back made his way forward and volleyed home powerfully (0-1, 70'). A goal that liberated the Parisians who worked hard all game to score and then keep the lead by denying Angers until the final whistle.

Paris Saint-Germain end a perfect week with a precious win away at Angers.  It was a win that puts the defending champions to be back at the top of the table provisionally!  Mission accomplished.
