Paris fall against Nantes

Four days after the qualification for the UEFA Champions League quarter finals  Paris Saint-Germain were back in action at the Parc des Princes as they welcomed FC Nantes. The objective was clear: gain confidence, carry on the winning streak and go top of the league table. Mauricio Pochettino lined up with a forward line composed of Di Maria-Mbappé-Draxler with a midfield with  Marco Verratti and Rafinha.

Against a team determined to close the gaps in defence the Rouge et Bleu were quickly on the front foot and created multiple chances in the Nantes box. And it was Rafinha who led the charge with three shots being saved by Lafont (7', 24', 39').
Against a defensive side they needed to vary the way they attacked: Angel Di Maria tried his luck (11'), Marquinhos then headed from a corner (12') and Kylian Mbappé also had an attempt (37'). But it was Julian Draxler who broke the deadlock as he combined with Mbappé and Di Maria to finish into the corner past Lafont (1-0, 42').

The Canaris fought back after the break and  Kolo Muani equalised with a powerful shot (1-1, 59'), before taking the lead through Simon (1-2, 71'). The Parisians then did everything they could to put the pressure back on. Leandro Paredes came on and hit a long distance effort was punched away by Lafont (79'). Up until the end, the Nantais were able to deny the attacks to keep their lead.

Paris Saint-Germain were defeated by FC Nantes to conclude a tough week.  Mauricio Pochettino's men will be back in action on Wednesday to face Lille in the Coupe de France before travelling to Lyon in a week in a Ligue 1 clash.
