Paris defeated away in Lorient

Paris Saint-Germain were defeated by Lorient this Sunday in matchday 22 of Ligue 1 (3-2). Take a look a what went down.

Paris Saint-Germain were away from home this Sunday afternoon at the Stade du  Moustoir and Mauricio Pochettino had to deal with multiple starters being out and picked a starting line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, led by Presnel Kimpembe who was captain for the day.

Lorient were motivated to try and ensure their survival in the top flight and they had nothing to lose. They showed that from the off by showing all their qualities: a very solid compact defence and well oiled counter attacks  that proved more and more dangerous. And despite Sergio Rico saving brilliantly from Grbic (30'), he couldn't do anything as Abergel tackled the ball in to open the scoring for Lorient  (1-0, 36').

From then on it was a different game. From a Parisian  Neymar Jr took things into his own hands. After combining with his partner in crime Kylian Mbappé, the n°10 first won a penalty that he put away himself with his usual ease (1-1, 44'). And then once more in the second half with a penalty this time won by  Mauro Icardi - and the Brazilian scored his second (1-2, 58').

The French champions were looking more dangerous on the ball and created a flurry of chances in the Lorient box without being able to beat keeper Dreyer. As was shown by Mauro Icardi's header (72'). At the other end a resilient Lorient side didn't give up either. And despite the Parisians still creating chances it was the home side who had the last laugh by breaking down the Rouge et Bleu defence twice thanks to Wissa (2-2, 80') and then Moffi (3-2, 90+1').

After a hard fought affair Paris Saint-Germain fall in Britanny. Now it's a tough month of February on the cards for them starting on Wednesday against Nîmes at the Parc des Princes.
