Paris closing in on 4000th goal
Paris Saint-Germain head into Sunday's Coupe de France tie at Lorient just four goals shy of a milestone.
This season, Paris Saint-Germain have already put up some impressive offensive numbers. With 50 goals in Ligue 1, 17 in the UEFA Champions League group stage, and 16 in three cup games, the capital club can now reach the symbolic barrier of 4000 competitive goals.
Bernard Guignedoux scored the club's first goal on 23 August 1970 in Poitiers, Dominique Rocheteau hit the 1000th against Sochaux at the Parc des Princes in 1983, Jay-Jay Okocha breached the 2000 barrier at Montpellier in 1998, while Ezequiel Lavezzi made it 3000 in Paris against Évian Thonon Gaillard in 2012.
Now, could another great goalscorer write themselves still further into the club's history? Kylian Mbappé has already hit 21 goals in all competitions, Mauro Icardi is on 17, and Neymar Jr stands on 13.
* NB: This total - approved by the club - does not take into account three goals awarded to the club on walkover, but that were not scored by a player. In 1992-93 vs PAOK Salonique (at 2-0 to Paris, the match was stopped after a pitch invasion) and in 2001-02 vs National Bucarest (at 1-0 to Paris, the match was stopped due to an electricity failure) in both instances, Paris were awarded 3-0 victories by walkover.
