Paris-Arsenal: Put it all on the line
Ahead of the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday 7 May at the Parc des Princes (9pm), we preview the decisive second leg between Paris and London. We take a look back at the first leg and the dynamics of the clash between the Rouge et Bleu and the English side.
Gunners strengthened for second leg
After missing the first leg at the Arsenal Stadium, Thomas Partey will return to the English team this Wednesday evening after serving his suspension. The former Atletico Madrid man, who has become an essential part of the Gunners' midfield, should logically regain his place as the holding midfielder, which would then allow Declan Rice to play a little higher up the pitch than he did last week, and potentially Mikel Merino to compete with Leandro Trossard up front.
And the Ghana international is unlikely to be the only player to return to Mikel Arteta's squad, with Riccardo Calafiori also expected to make the trip for the Gunners. The Italian international, who has been out of action for a month and a half following an injury sustained on international duty, is expected to challenge for a starting berth in his preferred left-back role. But Myles Lewis-Skelly's performances in that position in recent weeks make the young England international the favourite to start at the Parc des Princes.
