MADE IN FRANCE

After starting his footballing career in Evreux, it was in 2010 that the youngster from Vernon's career really took a turn. With interest from Le Havre AC and Stade Malherbe de Caen, Ousmane Dembélé decided to leave his native Normandy to head to Brittany and the Academy of Stade Rennais FC, when he was just 13. 
Accompanied by his family, the young Frenchman, born to a Malian father and Senegalese-Mauritanian mother, got his taste of the Coupe Gambardella before really shining during the 2014-2015 season. During that campaign, Ousmane Dembélé scored 13 goals for the SRFC Reserve team in the CFA 2.

Despite the interest of SL Benfica and RB Salzburg, it was indeed in the Breton capital that Ousmane Dembélé signed his first professional contract in October 2015, before taking his first steps in the top flight a month later. The French U19 international then experienced a meteoric rise, with his first professional goal scored on his first Ligue 1 start. A revelation of the season in France, Ousmane Dembélé took home the trophy for Young Player of the Year at the Trophées UNFP.

TO GERmany then Spain and... The STAR

After a first professional season marked by 12 goals and 5 assists, the striker left Brittany to discover the Bundesliga: direction Borussia Dortmund in May 2016, when he was only 19 years old. During his time there, Ousmane Dembélé picked up his first cap for the France senior team and discovered the UEFA Champions League for the first time. Author of 10 goals and 22 assists in all competitions, the French international moved to Spain a year later to wear the colours of FC Barcelona.

His time in Catalonia saw him take home 7 trophies, including 3 La Liga titles and the unforgettable World Cup win in 2018 with France. 

Ousmane Dembélé is an unpredictable winger, with exceptional speed and dribbling qualities. A real star of the attack, who has proven himself wherever he has gone.

In February 2023, the CIES football observatory unveiled the ranking of the best “strikers”. Ousmane Dembélé was recognised as the best forward at 'taking on' in the world, ahead of players including Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid), Kévin De Bruyne (Manchester City) and Rafael Leão (AC Milan). A ranking based on the frequency of successful dribbles and crosses, playing time and the level of the matches played.
