Number Crunch: Bordeaux vs. Paris Saint-Germain

On Sunday evening, Paris travel to the Matmut Atlantique Stadium where they’ll refocus their attention on domestic matters after European triumph during the week. Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will go into the weekend’s game full of confidence on the back of 14 straight wins in Ligue 1. Their opponents have cause for concern not just on the back of present form, but historically the Rouge et Bleu have won 13 of the last 14 encounters between the two sides. The French league’s most in-form team meet a Bordeaux side in the midst of their longest winless run since the turn of the year (5 games; D3, L2)

More recently, Ricardo Gomes’ team have failed to score in four of their last six home games against Paris and in league ties are without a clean sheet in each of their last seven. They have however had better luck against other sides, in their last six home games, they’ve only lost once (against Nice in October).

Despite their poor run of luck, they had hit great form earlier in the campaign, scoring 16 goals in seven games, a tally that mirrored the form of François Kamano who hit his stride early in the campaign (scoring seven in nine) but hasn’t found the net in his side’s last five matches.

Paradoxically, Edinson Cavani, who was struggling for goals during a short run is now on fire for Paris Saint-Germain. The Uruguayan is certainly the man to watch out for on Sunday after scoring four of the Parisians’ previous five goals.
