Nasser Al-Khelaifi to represent the ECA on the UEFA Executive Committee.

UEFA ratified today the ECA decision to appoint Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi as ECA representative to the UEFA Executive Committee. On 30 January 2019 the European Club Association (ECA) Executive Board unanimously decided that Nasser Al-Khelaifi should represent European professional clubs’ interests at the UEFA Executive Committee.

This election is an acknowledgment of Nasser Al-Khelaifi's work at the helm of Paris Saint-Germain over the last eight years and as part of the Executive Board of the French Professional League since 2015. Nasser Al-Khelaifi will represent the clubs’ interests at a crucial time for the future of professional football in Europe, marked by the emergence of new media and the overhaul of European competitions.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi stated: “First of all, I want to congratulate the President of UEFA Aleksander Ceferin on his re-election. I would like to thank again my esteemed colleagues at ECA for trusting me to represent them on the UEFA Executive Comittee. It is a great honour and together with ECA President Andrea Agnelli we will continue to work closely with UEFA to develop professional football in the interests of all stakeholders.

Today was my first UEFA Congress and it was extremely informative. The figures presented have shown an impressively balanced structure between clubs and national associations. I was also struck by all the inspiring work done by UEFA‘s departments, and the way their Foundation promotes football for young people in difficulties. They are fantastic programmes and ideas to help move our sport forward. I am happy to be part of this great football family today.

With this new European mandate, Nasser Al-Khelaifi will maintain his commitment to promote football that he has shown as Chairman and CEO of Paris Saint-Germain since 2011 and as Vice-Chairman of the French Professional League (LFP) since 2015.
