Mauricio Pochettino : 'We need the same intensity and mentality'

On the eve of the matchday 33 game against Saint-Étienne this Sunday April 18 at 13:00 at the Parc des Princes the Paris Saint-Germain manager spoke to PSG TV and the rest of the media. Here's what he had to say.

SAINT-ÉTIENNE

"How we need to follow on from the Champions League? Good question. We'll need to answer that on the pitch tomorrow by playing well and giving our all on the pitch. But the most important thing will be putting in a good performance that will lead to a victory. It will be a different game to the one against Bayern but we need to stay focused. Every game is different but we need to keep the same intensity and mentality. That only depends on us and the way we go into the game."

"Despite the absentees we need to remain optimistic and have a positive attitude. The situation was the same when we arrived in January with a dozen injuries. Those things happen and we need to have confidence in the squad's ability for them to be ready for situations like these. What's most important is that the players need to be ready to be in the starting eleven whenever the team needs them. With games every three days and the circumstances around that every player is important."

after the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

"We spoke about it today with the players and the staff. We need to be ready and understand that every game is important. I think that the team is ready and that they will play well to be able to win. That's the goal. It's true that we can't focus too much on the qualification against Bayern because we've got a crucial game on Sunday to close the gap to Lille. The three points are going to be massive for us. Lille's draw? We know how hard it is for every team to win points and games.  Ligue 1 is a very tough and competitive league where every game is difficult."

MANCHESTER CITY

"It's hard to speak about Manchester City because we've got an important game Sunday. But when you're managing a club like Paris Saint-Germain we want to win every game and competition whoever we're playing against and reach our goals."
