Mauricio Pochettino: 'Turn the page and continue to win'

On the eve of Matchday 36 of Ligue 1 against Rennes on Sunday 9 May at 21:00 at Roazhon Park, the Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media. Highlights.

managing between MANCHESTER CITY and RENNES

"It's not easy but we are professionals. We need to move on. Of course we are disappointed because the UEFA Champions League is very important for the club and the fans. But we were so close to the final. The most important thing is to focus on what is to come and to be ready because there are three matches to go and anything is possible."

the players' versatility

"We need to develop our understanding, to have versatile players. We need to have defenders who don't leave spaces between themselves. We need to develop this aspect of our game for the future. But the problem is time. We have two weeks until the end of the season, but we still have lots to play for. However, these are of course characteristics that we need to work on."

NEYMAR JR's contract extension

"The whole of the PSG family is happy about Neymar Jr's contract extension. The challenge, for all of the players, is to continue to grow as a team and use this individual talent for the best of the team. We want to continue to build a team. It's a huge challenge for the future. Paris Saint-Germain's ambition is there. Neymar Jr's extension is a proof, for the present and for the future. The club is working with the ambition of continuing to progress and win."

rennes

"Of course, Lille's victory puts additional pressure on us to win tomorrow to reduce their lead. This victory depends on us, there are only three matches to go and we will see if one team drops points. There are obviously not many matches to go. We need to win tomorrow, it's essential in order to remain in the title race."

The psychological work

"The disappointment was huge but it soon passes. Our players know that they quickly need to focus on what is to come, they have good emotional control. We have three matches to win, it's not in our control, but the results come down to us."

The relationship between the players and referees

"Technology is always welcomed. I am for it if it helps to simplify things and improves the game. There are always things that can be said in the heat of the moment, that's why we can always be in favour of technology, in all circumstances."

Post-CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

"The players were understandably hit hard by the elimination from the UEFA Champions League. It was an objective, but each individual can be impacted differently on an individual basis. We know that we need to turn the page, that we need to win, and that we need to perform well tomorrow by being better than the opposition."

Marco VERRATTI's fitness

"We need to wait to see the results of the tests that will be done before saying any more. I need to be as optimistic as possible. We hope that he will be ready as soon as possible."
