Mauricio Pochettino: "Show strength, solidarity and solidity"

On the eve of the second leg of the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich, this Tuesday April 13 at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes, the Paris Saint-Germain coach, accompanied by Presnel Kimpembe, the capital club’s defender, answered questions from PSG TV and the media. Extracts.

BAYERN MUNICH

"Bayern are a team who play football and I don't think they'll change their game. We too will play with our ideas. Football is a game and we'll see who manages to impose their ideas. We will try to do that on Tuesday. Bayern are the best team in Europe and we have respect for them. We have a huge amount of confidence, but we need to think about winning this game in order to qualify. Bayern are champions and have won 6 trophies, so they are the favourites. We aspire to win it. For the club, being in the semi-finals would be something major."

SPIRIT

"I spoke about the collective attitude to keep the ball, but also the aptitude. We'll need both of those things tomorrow. Barça is in the past. Bayern is tomorrow's match, up against the best team in the world. It's obvious that a team such as there's will try to cause us problems. It's in such moments that we need to show strength, solidarity and solidity."

SQUAD

"As for Marquinhos, I don't know yet. We'll make a decision on Tuesday. He could be part of the squad, but not to start the game. We'll decide tomorrow. Marco Verratti might find it harder to start than Alessandro Florenzi and we'll see how he's coming along tomorrow. Moise Kean will be in the squad, but we haven't yet decided the team that will start. Mauro Icardi won't be in the squad."

PRESNEL KIMPEMBE

"His role is important as he is homegrown. He's a player who has come up through the
Paris Saint-Germain youth system, who knows the club, it's identity and its values. He grew up here and loves it here, and he's a player who has great qualities. He's an important player for our team."

Presnel Kimpembe (Paris Saint-Germain defender)

"We all feel very good. We are calm and we are preparing for the match in serene fashion. We know how important this game is and we can't wait for it to come around, but we need to stay calm and focused in order to prepare for it well. The team is ready and confident. We will play with our weapons, while respecting Bayern as they are the best team in Europe. Knocking them out would be something huge. We'll need to play as a team and be solid in order to win the game. Wearing the armband? That shows the confidence the club and the coach have in me. There's a lot of pride and pleasure in being captain, and I try to bring positive energy to the team. My career path is a source of pride. It's been a long road and I hope there will be more great adventures, starting on Tuesday. I am happy and proud with what I've achieved and it's an honour for me as a young "Titi", who has come up through the ranks, to play matches such as these with the armband.  Paris Saint-Germain as a club is anchored in my heart. My blood is red and blue, and it will be for a long time to come, forever I hope!"
