Mauricio Pochettino: 'A team victory'

The Paris Saint-Germain coach and captain spoke to PSGTV about their victory over Lille.

Mauricio Pochettino

"We won and we were better overall, there's no doubt about that. We need to play better and we want to play better. For us the performance is not good enough but I think we need to give the players and the squad credit because it's another team victory and that's important. Overall we need to improve but I'm happy because the three points are really really important.
Always. It's important to win because of the three points but also for the next game because it gives us more belief."

MARQUINHOS

"Yes, that's true. I think it's important to know that the team gives it their all until the last minute. Even though we started badly, I think it was a difficult start to the match. The two halves were completely different, in the first half we struggled a bit and then it was better in the second half. We controlled the game better, had more possession and chances. I think that the result showed how the match went. The second half was more Paris and the first half more Lille. 2-1 is a fair score in my opinion... It's true that it's always better when you win even if you always have to think and improve. A win hides some things so we need to know that we can improve. Every game tells a story and you have to prepare for each one. I think that even though we won we've got a few days to work and to put things in place because Wednesday is a very important match for us. We know that in the Champions League every game is a final it's not easy and we need to put in a good performance there to bring some points back home.

Gianluigi donnarumma

"It was a tougher game than we expected. At the break, the manager reminded us of a few things we needed to improve on. Then with the crowd pushing us on we managed to find the way to put Lille under pressure by scoring two crucial goals. We won this game against a very good side. We’re delighted. The manager made things clear at the break. That enabled us to make the difference. We’re a great team, who can turn any situation around.
These two goals are very important and will probably count for the race for the title."
