Matchday in Bruges!

All the local media is looking ahead to this evening's UEFA Champions League Matchday 3 clash between Club Brugge and Paris Saint-Germain at the Jan Breydelstadion (kick-off at 21:00 CET).

The press conference room was packed out at the Jan Breydelstadion on Monday for the pre-match press conferences where there was no shortage of material for the journalists, between the recent returns of Kylian Mbappé and Edinson Cavani to the current good form of Thiago Silva and Leandro Paredes… But for the local media, the main topic of conversation is the return to Brugge of former player and Belgium international Thomas Meunier.

A player for Brugge between 2011 and 2016 before joining Les Rouge et Bleu, the Paris Saint-Germain fronted up to the media at the pre-match press conference. The front page of the Het Nieuwsblad spoke of his 'grote liefde' (great love) for his former club, while noting that nostalgia will be put to one side for 90 minutes tonight.

Le Soir analysed Meunier's 'incredible career path' and his 'constant progression'. It was a theme echoed in DH, who talked about when arrived at Brugge as an attacker, only to follow the suggestions of coach Georges Leekens, to become a right-back. It will be an emotional night for the man from Saint Ode, who will play against Club Brugge for the first time.
