Through in style!

Thomas Tuchel went for a 4-4-2 as he looked for his side to maintain the momentum built by the weekend's 4-0 win over Dijon with a place in the Coupe de France final at stake.

The opening exchanges set the tone. In an intense first 15 minutes, Kylian Mbappé (1', 6'), Martin Terrier (4'), Lucas Tousart (5'), Léo Dubois (6') and Neymar Jr (7') all tried their luck. The hosts, pushed on by a boisterous Groupama Stadium crowd, opened the scoring through Terrier, who fired home a Karl Toko-Ekambi cross (1-0, 11'). The Parisian response took just three minutes: Layvin Kurzawa shrugged off his marker to get his head to a corner and Mbappé turned the ball in at the far post (1-1, 14').

With Lyon pressing, the visitors were grateful to Keylor Navas for keeping out Terrier, who had been played in behind the Parisian rearguard (31'). Not that it took Paris Saint-Germain long to refind their feet: an Edinson Cavani strike was ruled out for offside (35') while a dangerous Idrissa Gueye cross stretched the home defence (41'). That was also true when Neymar Jr burst down the left and provided a cross for Cavani, whose crisp volley ricocheted off the outside of Anthony Lopes' left-hand post (42').

The half-time interval did nothing to change the complexion of the game, though it did turn on the hour mark. Mbappé's surging run ended in a cross that struck the arm of Fernando Marçal, a second yellow card meant a red for the Brazilian. His compatriot, Neymar Jr, brilliantly won the war of nerves with Lopes to give his team the lead (1-2, 64').

Paris Saint-Germain did not take long to capitalise on their man advantage. Mbappé skipped away from Bruno Guimaraes inside his own half, sprinting two-thirds of the pitch before bamboozling the OL defence and firing in a sublime third (1-3, 70'). There was still no let-up: Pablo Sarabia grabbed number four when the Lyon defence failed to clear a corner (1-4, 81') before Mbappé claimed his hat-trick in the dying seconds (1-5, 90+2').

Saint-Étienne or holders Rennes, who play on Thursday, await Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the Stade de France on 25 April.
