Marquinhos: "We'll have to give everything out on the pitch"

The Paris Saint-Germain centre-back spoke about the UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg against Real Madrid in the traditional pre-match press conference.

ON THE GAME

"Real Madrid are a club with huge history in this competition. Back when I was a little boy, I used to dream about playing in games like this. Now, I'm here, and I'm focusing solely on my team. It's a pleasure to play for Paris Saint-Germain; I enjoy fighting for my team. The aim tomorrow will be to put in a good performance. This home leg is very important. We'll need to make our mark and score goals."

ON THE TEAM'S MINDSET

"Any kind of pressure should lift us and give us energy. We need to know how to handle any situation. We need to know how to judge our season and the period that we're going through. Now is the time to be united. When the fans are with us, they make the difference and give us energy. We'll need to give everything out on the pitch – for ourselves but also for them, to make them happy."

ON THE TEAM'S PROGRESS

"We've been fighting since the start of the season. We've trained every day, we've travelled a lot, we've played a lot of matches – some good, some not so good. We've earned wins, sometimes in the dying seconds. We shouldn't overlook what we've done. Tomorrow will be a very important game, as it will go towards defining our season. Everything that we've done so far has given us that bond with each other on the pitch. You can feel that the new players are more comfortable and fully settled into the squad."

ON neymar jr

"He's doing well and feeling confident. Even though he's lacking match sharpness, you know that if you see Neymar on the pitch tomorrow, he'll give 100%. It's up to the coach to decide whether or not he'll play."
